Club Background and History

The Maribyrnong Park Tennis Club was founded during the “Halcyon days” of Australian tennis in the 1950’s, and is now one of the largest clubs in our region.

The club has nurtured many young players and can even boast being the home club of Mark Philipoussis for several years and Chris Guccione.

We have an ongoing relationship with our local school communities through coaching programs run by the club coach Anthony Burke in conjunction with Tennis Victoria and our Friday night junior in-house competition.

The club is affiliated with the VTA, NSTA, NSLTA, NSNTA and NSJTA.

Professional Tennis Coaching

The club is proud to have Anthony Burke as its coach. Anthony competed on the professional men’s circuit for five years and earned an ATP world singles ranking inside the top 500.

Anthony and his team of highly skilled & qualified coaches are enthusiastic and committed. Their one-to-one and group lessons are carefully planned to provide variety, enjoyment, motivation and maximum skill development for students from five years up to adults.

Anthony says of his students: “Give them encouragement and self confidence and they will know no limits.”
